Monarch folks are giving two presentations at Drupalcamp Colorado:
Good Cop/Bad Cop. In our offices, Caleb Thorne and Bryan Jones are continually challenging each other in the use of development and project management tools and techniques. Basically, best practices require additional overhead in your development process. Often, clients don't appreciate the value of these best practices and don't want to pay for them... Until they have been burned. See the presentation overview for more detail.
I have personally tried to attract more general business and technology managers to present at Drupal events. I have strongly felt that events like Drupalcamp Colorado should be a place that decision makers can better evaluate and understand the Drupal development platform.
The Client Perspective. I have worked with Tony Merschdorf on several web development projects with several different developers. Tony brings a down to earth perspective on the web development process with a myriad of war stories, "not to do agains", and lessons on what has worked for them. Much more information on this presentation here.
Client presentations like this are not just for general business people. When Tony has given an overview of the presentation to our Southern Colorado Drupal Users Group, even the most technical folks were engaging in the real world business scenarios that keep the paycheck coming in.
Over the years, Monarch has attended and sponsored Drupalcamp Colorado to foster the Colorado Drupal community and to learn and share. In the early years, we were primarily consumers, eating up valuable information fed to us from much more experienced Drupalistas. Now that we have much more real world development experience, we are proud that it is now our turn to give back.
