Drupal in the Springs

August 15, 2008 | Preston So

Monarch Digital hosted the inaugural Drupal meetup for southern Colorado users last night, and it was a fantastic success. There was one topic that appeared much more frequently than we anticipated but was one that needed to be addressed.

Colorado Springs and the remainder of southern Colorado have a huge shortage of experienced and seasoned Drupal users and developers, as opposed to the plethora of firms based out of northern Colorado. The Drupal community of Colorado is growing strong as a result of both the meetups out of Boulder and Denver as well as the increasing involvement by Colorado Springs Drupalers.

We discussed the possibility of holding educational meetings for Colorado Springs people interested in developing a Drupal presence, and for now this appears to be the direction these meetups will take in the near future. This is an ongoing debate among the members of the Southern Colorado User Group (SCUG) on this theme.

Our next meetup, on Thursday, September 4th at 6:30 (venue to be decided), will address many of the issues beginners continue to face as content management becomes more attractive than it has ever been. If you would like to be a part of learning or instructing, join the group and stay in the loop. The success of the group thus far has been staggering, and we hope this growth continues!
