Access Products has over 700,000 printing products that it sells to various governmental organizations. Each government agency would like to have its own portal to order these products, va.accessproductsinc.com for the Veterans Administration, epa.accessproducts.com for the Environmental Protection Agency, etc. Although Monarch developed an uploading procedure to keep these inventory items up to date, it would obviously be easier to upload the database once and use the same information across all agencies.
As virtually all the information in these individual sites are the same, Monarch was able to implement a Drupal multi-site implementation, using a different them for each agency, but using common data across all agencies.
After overcoming multi-site issues with the theme, Monarch implemented a multi-site SSL certificate, allowing Access Products to buy a single SSL certificate for all subdomains under accessproductsinc.com, i.e. *.accessproductsinc.com.
