Our security update process
Security updates
Monarch Digital applies security updates for Drupal and Wordpress as well as contributed modules and plugins following best practices as they are released. Security updates are evaluated on a case-by-case basis for severity and impact. Monarch will notify you about available updates and apply them according to the schedule below:
- Highly Critical, Critical, and Moderately Critical updates - within 24 hours.
- Less Critical and Not Critical - within 1 week (7 days)
General updates (non-security)
Monarch only applies security updates by default. This helps to avoid unintended regressions with no benefit. Non-security updates may be scheduled or requested if specific new features or patches are desired.
Uptime Monitoring
Monarch will monitor your the status of your website and will be notified of any downtime lasting greater than 5 minutes.
For any downtime lasting more than 5 minutes, Monarch will notify you and respond quickly to identify and repair the outage. If downtime is determined to be related to a server or other host-related issue, Monarch will work directly with your hosting provider to resolve the outage.
Offsite Backups
Monarch will conduct regular backups of your website's code, database, and files. These backups are provided in addition to standard backups provided by your hosting company.

What is a “routine maintenance” task?
Included in our fixed-cost support plans we'll answer questions about Drupal core and popular contrib modules, debug errors, change the color or position of something, or add/edit content on a page. You can reach us by email, phone, or by submitting a ticket through our Client Portal and we'll take care of the tasks ASAP.
What’s not a “routine maintenance” task?
Basically, creating any new functionality or areas on the site. For contributed modules, we will debug errors and provide recommendations as a routine task but if a fix requires us to develop a patch it may incur additional costs. In these cases, Monarch will provide an estimate for approval.
